MASQUERADE BALL COMMITTEE MEMBERS ANNOUNCE INAGURAL EVENT
LAREDO, TEXAS (September 2, 2011) – Continuing their mission to preserve, develop and promote Laredo’s Historic Downtown District, Laredo Main Street Association President, Cynthia Snyder, announced their first SOL (Streets of Laredo) Masquerade
Ball, Friday, October 28, 2011 at La Posada Hotel’s San Agustin Ballroom.
The evening’s festivities will also include crowning the first Reina and Rey del Sol to be represented this year by community leaders Linda La Mantia and Gabriel C. Castillo. Both honorees were chosen for their commitment and vision to enhance the
quality of life in Laredo by focusing on the important role the Historic Downtown District plays in our city.
The Masquerade Ball will be an evening of fun and excitement with live music from Banda Show Internacional, a silent auction with unique weekend getaways and one-of-a-kind items, and a most delicious Cajun-inspired cuisine, sure to satisfy all taste buds! THE HONOREES

Linda LaMantia is an artist and community volunteer. She serves on many boards, most involving the Arts and Education, as well as civic organizations, most notably WBCA. She is a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. She is the proud mother of five daughters and is married to Steve LaMantia.
Gabriel C. Castillo is the Director of the Laredo Center for the Arts and is a contributing columnist for the Laredo Morning Times Art of Living. He is an active board member with the Instituto Cultural de Mexico and has been involved with community non-profit agencies for many years. Most recently Gabriel has published the first issue of Streets of Laredo magazine dedicated to promoting and preserving all that is great about downtown Laredo.
